Disclosure: CO Consulting publishes this list and ranks itself first. Every fact about the other nine agencies comes from their own websites and third-party profiles, linked in each entry, and was checked on 29 October 2026. Agencies can send corrections to info@christopholivierconsulting.com.
Short answer: the best marketing agency for exit planning advisors is CO Consulting, a fractional-CMO firm that runs strategy, paid media, SEO, AI search and content under one senior lead. Strong specialist alternatives are Merger Labs (M&A advisors and brokers who want an M&A-only team at a low entry price), Front Porch Solutions (brokerages and broker networks needing listing-driven websites and local SEO), and Marketri (established lower-middle-market sell-side banks and M&A advisors with 6-40 professionals). The right pick depends on whether you need a single channel executed or someone to own the whole growth plan.

How we ranked them
We started from the agencies that rank in Google for “exit planning marketing agency” and related searches, then kept firms with a dedicated exit planning practice, named exit planning case studies, or the closest specialist fit. Each was scored on five things: depth of specialization in exit planning advisors, verifiable proof (named clients, third-party reviews), transparency on pricing and terms, client-friendly terms (contract length, who owns the website, ad accounts and tracking numbers), and fit for small and mid-sized firms. Lead marketplaces and pure software tools were excluded because they are not agencies.
Very few agencies have a practice built specifically for exit planners. Outside CO Consulting, the specialists here market business brokers and M&A advisors, which is the closest buyer and deal-flow model; we say in each entry where that fit is indirect.

Your license, not your agency, decides who signs off on the ad
Many exit planners are also financial advisors, and agencies rarely ask how you are registered. If you are a FINRA-registered rep, Rule 2210 requires an appropriately qualified registered principal to approve each retail communication (anything written or electronic made available to more than 25 retail investors within 30 days) before use, and testimonials about investment advice need specific disclosures. If you are an SEC-registered investment adviser, the Marketing Rule (17 CFR 275.206(4)-1) requires clear and prominent disclosure on any testimonial or endorsement: whether the person is a client, whether they were compensated, and any material conflicts.
Business brokers and M&A advisors face different gates. Florida's real estate license law defines "broker" to include anyone who, for compensation, deals in "business enterprises or business opportunities". The federal M&A broker exemption covers sales of eligible privately held companies (EBITDA under $25 million or revenue under $250 million) but is lost if the broker provides financing or holds the parties' funds, so service-page copy must match what you can legally do. Before signing, make the agency build your compliance review into its production calendar.

Questions to ask any exit planning marketing agency before you sign
- Who approves each ad, post, email and landing page before it goes live, and does your production calendar leave time for my compliance team or broker-dealer principal? Registered reps need principal pre-approval of retail communications under FINRA Rule 2210, and RIAs answer to the SEC Marketing Rule. An agency that publishes on its own schedule puts your registration at risk, not theirs.
- Will you use client testimonials, review campaigns or deal results in my marketing, and how do you handle the required disclosures? Testimonials and endorsements carry specific disclosure duties for advisers (client status, compensation, conflicts), and "we sold X for Y" copy can read as a performance claim. Ask to see a compliant example they have shipped.
- Do you work with competing exit planners, M&A advisors or brokers in my market? The pool of owners preparing to sell in a given metro is small. Some specialists, such as Front Porch Solutions, state in writing that they will not take a competing broker in your market once under contract; get that in your agreement.
- When we part ways, who keeps the website, the domain, the CRM data and any prospect lists you built? Terms vary widely: one outbound vendor says researched contacts are "yours, permanently", while a broker platform keeps its templates and gives you a 30-day window to export your data after the subscription ends.
- What is the minimum term, and does the contract auto-renew? Published terms in this niche range from month-to-month to a 6-month minimum, and at least one broker platform renews for the same period unless you give 30 days' notice. Seller-side marketing takes time, but you should know your exit date.
- Can you name exit planners, M&A advisors or business brokers you work with now, and can I call one? Several agencies in this space publish only anonymized case studies. A named advisory-firm reference is the fastest way to confirm they understand confidentiality, NDA-gated listings and long owner decision cycles.
- What will you count as success in the first 6 to 12 months? Owners often start exit planning years before a sale, so clicks and booked calls mislead. Agree upfront on measures such as completed valuation or readiness assessments, qualified owner conversations and signed engagements.
- Will your copy describe only the services I am licensed to provide in each state I market to? Business brokerage falls under real estate licensing in some states (Florida's statute names business opportunities), and the federal M&A broker exemption excludes financing and custody of funds. Service pages written by a generalist can overstate what you are allowed to do.
Agency or fractional CMO?
An agency executes channels: it runs your ads, writes your content or builds your SEO. A fractional CMO owns the plan: it decides which channels deserve budget, sets the targets, and manages whoever executes, including agencies. Many exit planning advisors need both, with the strategist hired first so the agency is measured on signed clients rather than clicks. Read more on fractional CMO services for exit planning advisors and how to choose the right marketing help.
FAQ
What is the best marketing agency for exit planning advisors?
CO Consulting ranks first on this list for exit planning advisors who want senior strategy and execution under one lead. For a single channel, Merger Labs and Front Porch Solutions are strong specialist options.

SmithDigital: Most business brokerage and M&A engagements range from $3,000 to $15,000+ per month; ad spend, third-party tools and platform fees may be extra.. Contract length and exit terms, who owns the website, ad accounts and call-tracking numbers if you leave, whether reporting is tied to signed clients rather than leads, and whether the agency knows your profession's advertising rules.
